Review

Universally known that cloisonne enamel takes utmost important place in the history of the world culture. The collection of Georgian cloisonne masterpieces, kept up today and protected in the Art Museum's treasure house of the Georgian republic named after Shalva Amiranashvili is the richest all over the world.

When investigation this collection we can come to the evident conclusion that there existed two major schools in the Middle Ages: Byzantinesque and Georgian. The latter is famous for its originality, with the depth of palette's color and variety. The masterpieces of Georgia cloisonn school are kept in the treasure-houses of the world's well-know museum: Metropolitan Art Museum of New-York, the museum of Sakroa in Vatican, Luvr, the museum of Kliune in Paris, Ermitage, the Museum of Lazaro Galdiano in Madrid and others.

From the chronology of the Georgian enamel memorials we can clearly see that the enamel studios under the subjective and objective reasons stopped their creative work in XV century so that nothing was kept by the history about the technology of this fine branch of art.

From this point of view the results of Ermine Magradze's work, who has devoted 20 years of the creative investigation to the restoration of this lost and forgotten technology, exceeded all expectations and are considered as a great scientific success.

The result of the creative investigation for restoring forgotten technology can be formed as follows:
    - The special rules of processing and soldering of the basis of enamel and gold have been learnt and restored.
    - The ways of getting enamel's any color have been researched and studied.
    - The most important result in Georgian investigators' mind is the restoration of the color's palette of cloisonne enamel of the Georgian schools of the Middle Ages.
    - This very achievement gives Mr. Ermine Magradze's work unique beauty.
